One evening the young children came into the kitchen and announced that they didn't want me to bother about their play tent when they went back to school, and therefore they had decided to put it away.
I was hugely overwhelmed by their responsibility and even think I may have even given them a treat. I was a little premature in my compliments. On arriving in their bedroom later that night I found that there notion of 'away' was actually in their bedroom - still in use, just relocated.
My first response was to insist that it was set aside properly, however, they insisted that they wanted it for reading before bed; since the eldest was only just learning to read and the littlest was far away from reading anything I was a little bit suspicious. However, after noticing that after they were in their PJs every night they selected a book and took it into their tent until I came up for bed time tales I soon realized that this actually was a year round toy.
The play tent for kids which I picked up did start to appear a little battered after its first year, but it was probably the most played with and utilized item they had ever had and shared it wonderfully.
