When Microsoft company first introduced the Vista operating system they made quite a stir. Those that had been using XP genuinely liked it, for the most part, and as we changed over to the new Vista most of us were not satisfied. Too much of a change in certain areas that made us have to learn how to do some things over again and it just moved too slowly many times.
Immediately after the launch of Vista I ran into a situation with a network on a static IP that had added latest Vista computers in with XP. This proved to be a major problem until Windows caught up with software patches to make them compatible. The issues were so prevalent that lots of companies did not modify to Vista or would altered out their server together with all the PC's at one time.
When Windows 7 was introduced there was plenty of hope that it could be more like the old XP than Vista. However the IT world was vigilantly waiting. Would it fix problems or add to them?
Not everything about Vista was bad. The video gaming area was the most happy with Vista over XP since it did speed up computer game playing features. And it was not only a great deal of difference in gaming speed but also other software programs that need higher speed. It was much more suitable for the now typical multi-core processors being used. But now the new Win7 has the old XP simplicity we all miss. So it is a win, win?
For those users that waited, the transition from XP to Windows 7 will be simple. The main thing is the boost in speed and power. Windows 7 will speed up computer functions similar to Vista but operate more like XP. XP owners will not have to face relearning where things are and some of the common functions that we had to find out when we converted from XP to Vista. To me switching from Vista to 7 is like "going back home".
Can you up grade your Vista computer to Windows 7? Check first because some cannot. What you get with the latest operating system is faster startup, which was very slow with Vista, and it will speed up computer regular operations in general. But this is really only true for the upper end, high end PC. Our normal office and home computers will show very little change.
