Feeling Genuinely Nice About Smoking Cessation And Now Are Planning To Enjoy Your Victory With Just One Cigarette?
It's been three weeks since you've smoked a cigarette and you intend to enjoy your victory by having just one cigarette. That cannot be entirely bad, can it?
Surely from a health viewpoint, just one cigarette in three weeks is a lot better than a pack a day.
But, the true risk of smoking just one cigarette to rejoice over your extraordinary effort is not a medical risk. It is mostly psychological.
Here is why just one cigarette is so risky.
In your thoughts, cigarettes make it easier to deal with life. They help you relax, concentrate, and just feel fine.
You already know that if you can't smoke you start to feel tense, become irritable, wiped out and probably your hands begin to tingle. They're nicotine withdrawal symptoms, a sure indicator that you're hooked on cigarettes.
Most of the marketing you've observed for cigarettes added to the cigarette placements in the movies or on television have convinced you that cigarettes will relax you and cause you to feel more alert.
You, therefore, imagine cigarettes as the only real approach to restore a sense of wellbeing. A sense of being normal once more, exactly like a non-smoker.
Cigarettes and the nicotine they supply do cause you to feel better. Thus, you think about cigarettes as a treat. You've anticipated any chance to smoke over the course of many years. You look forward to any time you can get out of your workplace and light up. You look forward finishing a meal to have an after dinner cigarette.
You regard cigarettes as a little bit of enjoyment in a world full of anxiety and uncertainty.
And, here's the issue with the thought of "just one cigarette." You merely think of the moment of enjoyment you'll obtain while you are smoking. You actually have not gotten over smoking yet.
Your outlook needs to change to truly kick the habit.
Every cigarette you smoke trains your brain to require ever more nicotine to feel normal. The main reason you have cravings, feel agitated, fatigued, get headaches whenever you can't smoke is due to the earlier cigarette you smoked.
Every cigarette increases and intensifies your cravings for the next cigarette. It is a vicious cycle. You cannot get away from it by engaging in the cycle.
When you smoke just one cigarette, you're admitting to yourself that a cigarette creates happiness. In fact, the cigarette actually results in further addiction.
If you smoke just one, you reinforce your opinion that smoking is the best way to experience a little enjoyment. Just the opposite is true. Smoking brings about your withdrawal symptoms and makes them stronger and more lasting.
On top of that, smoking that one cigarette causes you to realize that they truly taste bad, annoy your mouth and throat, and make you smell just like a smoker. And, you question why you ever got hooked on those things in the beginning. And that is the real danger since that is exactly what you thought as you started smoking and became addicted.
So, decide if you are a smoker or a non-smoker. If you are a smoker, return to smoking a pack a day and stop pretending to quit. If you are a non-smoker, remember that each cigarette reinforces your false beliefs, increases your cravings and strengthens your withdrawal symptoms making you more addicted than your were. There is certainly no positive value in smoking just one more cigarette.
Stop, and stop for good.
Shouldn't you discover the steps to quit smoking in order to finally stop smoking cigarettes. Today is the day.
