Balboa Park Is Just One Of San Diego's Most Famous Areas For Environment And Relaxation
San Diego is definitely a place with many natural and man-made wonders, ranging from zoos, to sea shores, to museums, to animal attractions, to commercial and social facilities, and almost everything in between. Included in this list is a number of gardens and parks, arguably the best known of which is Balboa Park.
It is actually the biggest and eldest location on San Diego real estate which is set aside for recreation. 1,200 acres are available to be frequented by vacationers and San Diego citizens. It is undoubtedly considered one of the greatest destinations in the city.
While it shares the name of one of Hollywood's most famous characters, Balboa Park is not named after Rocky Balboa. It is, however, a park with many different botanical plants and groves, showcasing trees and bushes that are drought tolerant, to look lively despite San Diego's hot and often dry environment.
These plants and trees are divided and organized in many smaller gardens in the park, including the Desert Cactus Garden, the Japanese Friendship Garden, and the Inez Grant Parker Memorial Rose Garden. There are numerous others as well, providing havens for plant life and nature, and for people who wish to slow down and just break free of the rigors of daily life.
Guests which have experienced a long day seeing the sights will often delight in taking a load off in one of these gardens. But they will find many more fantastic attractions in store for them.
The Old Globe Theatre calls Balboa Park home. This famous destination is one of San Diego's most prestigious theatres, and was created as a duplicate of the Globe Theatre made famous by William Shakespeare. The Old Globe is one of San Diego's most loved destinations.
This version was created 1935 for the California Pacific International Exposition, and was used to show 50-minute versions of plays by famous playwrights. Initially, it was supposed to be a temporary fixture, however, because of its notoriety, patrons formed the San Diego Community Theatre in order to prevent it from getting demolished after the expo. It is now a powerhouse among the theaters in the area.
Visitors to Southern California must go to Balboa Park, in order to get their fill of nature and heritage, all in one venue. Balboa Park is located just north of Downtown San Diego real estate, and only a few minutes to Mission Hills real estate.
